CITIZEN’S PETITION TO REMOVE THE STALIN STATUE
FROM THE NATIONAL D-DAY MEMORIAL,
BEDFORD, VIRGINIA

TO: NATIONAL D-DAY MEMORIAL FOUNDATION
And
SECRETARY OF THE INTERIOR KENNETH SALAZAR

I, the undersigned, STAND for the memory of all the Allied troops of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Poland, Australia, and Norway who gave their lives on D-Day or in the ensuing combat on the Western Front.

I STAND for the American veterans currently living in the State of Virginia, and in all other States, who survived D-Day, risking their lives to liberate Western Europe from tyranny.

I AFFIRM that the true history of World War II must be protected from distortion and misinformation which threaten to erase or alter well-established and documented facts.

I RECOGNIZE, on the basis of overwhelming historical evidence, that neither Joseph Stalin nor Soviet forces played any part in the D-Day landings at Normandy.

I AFFIRM that a bust of Joseph Stalin has no place at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia, whose stated purpose is to “honor the valor, fidelity, and sacrifice of Allied forces on D-Day,” June 6, 1944, and that a Stalin statue should not be displayed with statues of the leaders of the Western Allies responsible for the triumph of D-Day.

I therefore PETITION the Officers and Board of Directors of the National D-Day Memorial Foundation to remove the bust of Stalin from the grounds of the Memorial immediately; I further PETITION Interior Secretary Kenneth Salazar to ensure that if the National D-Day Memorial should come under the National Park Service, no bust or statue of Stalin will be included or allowed; in so acting, the National D-Day Memorial Foundation and Interior Secretary Salazar will safeguard the sacred memory of D-Day for ourselves, our veterans, and future generations.

Time to go. Buh-bye!

James W. Morrison,
The Stalin bust must be taken down.

MSG Douglas L. Morrison (Ret),
WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? ? ?

Stephen Miller,

Robert D. Lindell,
As with thousands of others I strongly oppose Stalin being represented at the D-Day Memorial.

Hilda Lindell,
This murderer has no place in a memorial dedicated to those who are honored by sacrificing so much on D-Day….

Doug Pafford,
The Stalin bust must be removed and destroyed.

Zsolt Szekeres,

Jaron Janson,
Please honor the veterans of D-Day and Bedford by removing this bust. It distracts so much from the purpose of the memorial.

Karin Vercamer,
This is an absolute disgrace….this man made Hitler look like a choirboy, and to place his statue among those who fought for freedom, NOT tyranny, is the height of absurdity…..WHAT are you people thinking?!!!!!

Andris Kursietis,
There is no place in the USA for a statue of a mass-murderer! It truly is a disgrace to millions he killed…

Teresa Peipins,

Andris Trautmanis,

Karlis Dankers,
Adding a bust of Stalin to the D-Day Memorial has got to be one of the most ignorant, outrageous and offensive acts that greatly insults millions of survivors of communist atrocities from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s for which Josef Stalin was responsible. Just because the communists happened to start fighting the Nazis after the German invasion of Russia in June of 1941 with much Allied and especially U.S. help, is no reason to include a bust of this murderer of millions in the same place as honored men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Shame on whoever came up with this ignorant and ill conceived idea. Are you a communist? Are you helping Medvedev, Putin & Co. to re-write Russian history so that ol’ Joe would be seen in a better light? By the way, who kept removing the many negative comments from your Facebook page? I suggest that you read up on history before you make any further ill-informed decisions about what should or should not be exhibited in a place of honor in the National D-Day Memorial.
I sincerely hope that you give serious consideration to these negative comments that you are receiving via petition e-mail, Facebook, etc. and come to the realization that Stalin in the National D-Day Memorial would be a total bust.
Karlis Dankers
(my family fled the Soviet communist invasion of Latvia in 1944)

Stanislaw Praga,
What does Stalin have to do with D-Day? A convenient ally who dropped us and continued 8 more years of totalitarianism when the war was over? Bedford’s honored dead deserve much better…

Rex Bishop,
The statue should be removed. Information on Stalin may be made available but not his bust.

Liga Rozentals,
A monument to a mass murderer is hardly necessary in the USA, let alone any country!

Raz Ellis,
Remove Stalin, that butcher has no right to be on this memorial

Andrejs E. Lazdins,

Renate Rutkovskis,
A man who coldly executed thousands of Latvians, Lithuanians, Estonians and put those people in similar concentration camps in Siberia as the Jews in Germany, does not deserve to be memorialized amongst those who worked tirelessly for freedom and not against it. This man has no place in honoring those who gave their lives during WWII and I urge you to err on the side of reason to have this statue removed and sunk to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

Tormi Kimsto,

xxxxxxxx,

Edvins Veits,

Jekabs Zalte,
To idolize Stalin is a great disrespect to the Baltic countries and the survivors of communist carnage from the past.

American Hungarian Federation,
The American Hungarian Federation Condemns Stalin Bust at National D-Day Memorial
The American Hungarian Federation honors the bravery of all who fought and died June 6, 1944, forever known and revered as “D-Day.” Americans of all backgrounds braved unimaginable horrors as they valiantly stepped forward on the beaches of Normandy to free Europe from the Nazi scourge. Freedom-loving Americans and Europeans alike are eternally grateful for the sacrifices of the “Greatest Generation.” We were looking forward to the opening of the National D-Day Memorial with great anticipation.

The National D-Day Memorial Foundation asks us to “imagine a place where the lessons and legacy of D-Day are remembered and preserved, a place where veterans of all ages are welcomed and honored, a place where visitors discover and recognize the worthy service of those who answer duty’s call, a place where gravity and dignity are hallmarks.” They explain that the “National D-Day Memorial reminds all who enter it of the heavy price that heartland communities have paid, and still pay, for freedom.”

The Foundation’s decision to include, in the last minute, a bust of the tyrannical murderer Josef Stalin is deeply disturbing and is incompatible with the stated goals of the Foundation. To include a man who murdered more people than Hitler and the Nazis and began the Cold War is insulting to “those who answer duty’s call” and “paid, and still pay, for freedom.”

On August 21, 1939, Stalin and Hitler concluded a deal — the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact — by which they both agreed to divide Europe. Both attacked Poland in September, less than a month later. Stalin assisted Hitler by supplying resources to assist the Nazi war machine. It wasn’t until Hitler attacked the Soviet Union that Stalin fought against him. While Allied forces were fighting to free Europe, Stalin and his Soviet hordes fought to occupy much of Central and Eastern Europe. His legacy is that of death, destruction, internment, forced labor, torture, fear, suffering, oppression, occupation, and “Evil Empire.” Hungarians rose up against Soviet tyranny in 1956. They cut off the head of Stalin’s statue, leaving only his boots. The “Freedom Fighters” while initially successful, would later be crushed by 200,000 troops and 5,000 tanks. Thousands died, children hung, and 2% of the population fled, many to the United States. These Freedom Fighters would go on to make significant contributions to their new homeland.

The American Hungarian Federation, with its legacy of supporting liberty and human rights, cannot remain silent. We respectfully ask the National D-Day Memorial Foundation to remove the Stalin Bust. Stalin’s is not a legacy to be honored and has no place on hallowed ground.

Benita Plume,

xxxxxxxx,

Frank Koszorus, Jr., president, American Hungarian Federation,
Placing a bust of Stalin — a mass murderer and Hitler’s ally until attacked by Nazi Germany — on the hallowed grounds commemorating D-Day is a grotesque perversion of history.

Haris Subacius,
No matter the intent, a statue is memorial. This may be the first such memorial for a mass murderer in the nth degree in the free world. American and British heads of state were sending their citizens to save Europe from the two demons who were fighting over it: Hitler and Stalin. Deals with one of them were made in the aftermath but that does not make it right to celebrate Stalin as anything other than what he was: a terrorist dictator directly responsible for millions of deaths.

xxxxxxxx,

xxxxxxxx,

xxxxxxxx,

Mara A. Kubulins,
Putting a bust of Stalin is like putting a bust of Hitler.

Ivars Bezdechi,
If anything there should be monument to acknowledge the enslavement of torture of millions of citizens of Eastern Europe at the National D-Day Monument. Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania are the only countries which magically disappeared from the world map after WW 2.

Amanda Meijers,

Zigurds Riders,
Putting a statue of Stalin anywhere in the USA is an insult to all the freedom loving Americans and a slap in the face of democracy for which we stand as a nation.

xxxxxxxx,

xxxxxxxx,
Please remove this abomination. Stalin was a perpetrator of genocide and ethnic cleansing.

xxxxxxxx,

Doan Huu Dinh,

xxxxxxxx,

Pablo Kleinman,

Marc Wheat,
Stalin was a murderous horror visited upon the Russian people – and had no role to play on D-Day. It is imporant that the D-Day Memorial demonstrate familiarity with history through the visual arts. Please remove the Stalin bust.

Meghan Cox Gurdon,

Henry Song,
This is outrageous! This is a disgrace, and a slap in the face to all the veterans of D-Day.

Nick Zahn,

John Fogarty,

xxxxxxxx,
It would be shameful to display a bust of this murderer.

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Miller,

Sandra Stipins,

Tania Mastrapa,

Edite Lynch,
Placing a bust of Stalin at the National D-Day Memorial site in bedford ,VA. was a travesty no one with a clear mind could have anticipated would happen. The outgoing Chair of the \Foundation seems to have had a particular fantasy relationship with Stalin. Why? No one knows. But he sure wanted that bust there before his term was up. Not one Soviet(RED) Army soldier died on the Beaches of Normandy on D-Day. Stalin nor his murdering army which carried out Stalin’s orders deserves a place of honour with men of real heroism, leadership, love of freedom and liberty , who did not command their armies to kill hundreds of millions of innocent souls. who disliked Communism.Tear down this monstrous Stalin for all time and never give him any honor on American soil ever again.

Bruce K. Gouldey, Ph.D.,

Justin Vander Veur,

Priscilla Tacujan,

James Rice,

xxxxxxxx,

Alan Charles Kors,
A bust, in memory of D-Day, of the mass-murderer who supplied his ally Hitler with essential war materials until the day his accomplice in conquests betrayed him! It is intolerable.

HungViet Bui,
Please do not insult our nation. Remove Stalin’s statue. Thanks.

Beverly Danielson,

xxxxxxxx,
I had relatives who were murdered by Communists influenced by Stalin in 1944. Remove the Statue now!

Marjorie Thorpe,

richard urey,
What next, a bust of Tojo at the WW2 Memorial?

Gustav Plato,
Please remove the statue. It is offensive to me as a US Citizen and being from a family, which fell victim of the Soviet Holocaust, I am deeply saddened about the insensitivity of this.

Ilya Shapiro,

P. Peter Anniko,

Elizabeth Wheless,

Peter Flaherty,
THE MASS MURDERER WASN’T EVEN AT D-DAY

Helvi Sarapik,

Dr. John S. Micgiel,
Please remove the mass murderer’s bust. Even the Russian government has begun to admit the truth about his crimes, and the National D-Day Memorial Foundation should too.

Laura Blanchard,

Terry Miller,
The D-Day Memorial Foundation Officers and Board are a disgrace and should be removed, along with the bust, of course.

Kathy Privrat,
We shouldn’t even have to be petitioning to have this removed – why is it there? – this is a shameful display of ignorance and arrogance by those who made the decision to place the bust there. Stalin murdered his own people. He had nothing to do with D-Day. This purpose of this memorial is to honor the heroes of that day.

xxxxxxxx,
Not removing this statue would be a travesty and insult to the brave men and women who fought as well as our allied troops.

Anna Jansons,

Victoria Palley,
This deplorable spector of nightmares deserves nothing. The only way to use (even private funds) properly was to share the atrocities perpetuated by this man – through print or documentaries. A sugary cloying bust is a slap in the face of the victims and humanity.

Tran Van Tong,

Miss R. H. von Goetz,

Zoltan Bagdy,
I consider placing Stalin’s bust in this memorial a truly outrageous act.

William Connery,
How many Russian troops landed on the Beaches?

Otto Reich,
My father and grandparents were persecuted by Nazis in Austria. My grandparents were murdered. My father escaped to Cuba. My parents, family and I were persecuted by communists in Cuba. Communism and Nazism are two sides of the same coin. Stalin is responsible for more crimes than Hitler. He does not belong on a memorial of a liberation.

Stalin ordered the execution of at least 100.000 Belarusians in the Kurapaty forest near Minsk, and many thousands more elsewhere. The people who conceived the idea of displaying a bust of Stalin at the D-Day Memorial should be sent to visit all those tragic locations and place copies of the bust there.

This incusion of a bust of a Communist tyrant is a bizarre mystery. Whose crazy and insensitive idea was this? Yes the USSR was an ally in World War II but the Red Army was not among the troops that landed in Normany on 6 June 1944. Stalin was a mass murderer who eliminated millions over 40 years and he was an enemy of freedom and democracy and the human rights that the USA, UK, and Canadian troops died for. It is not only an insult to Allied heroes to include Stalin’s bust but it is also an insult to brave Russian heroes who fought for their homeland but also detested the bloody tyrrany of Stalin that they could not escape.

Stalin was a mass murder of millions…

Stephanie Gwinn,

Mart Martinson,
Stalin was responsible for mass murder of 100′s of millions of innocent people in Eastern Europe and a statue for him anywhere in the world is far worse than a statue for Hitler would be.

Romuald E. Lipinski,
As Siberia survivor, where I was deported on Stalin’s orders, at age of 14, I protest in strongest terms against displaying his monument in Bedford or anywhere else in the civilized world. He is responsible for death and repression of millions of innocent people and will go into history as a murderer.

Andrij Dobriansky,

Raymond Matison,

Peter Ozols,
I am a naturalized citizen of the the United States, having escaped with my family from my native country of Latvia, where during WW2, many of my relatives were either tortured, killed , or deported to Siberia, as a result of the directives of the Soviet regime under Stalin. I have served in Vietnam, and I truly believed that America was against communism. Stalin never was a true ally, and America fell for his lies. It truly would be a mockery of American principles of freedom ,and my having served America, if this lying murderer’s statue would be displayed in America and proclaimed as a WW2 ally of freedom. He was completely the opposite. Do not fall for this lie again.

Mara Pravs,
Stalin murdered more than civilians than Hitler. Eradicate the murderer!!!!!!

I lived for many years in Eastern Europe, and my wife is from Poland. A bust of Stalin in a memorial commemorating the liberation of Western Europe is a slap in the face of every European nation which endured Nazi occupation only to fall for another two generations to Soviet occupation.

Zane Vokes,
He was a very evil man who deserves no respect; no honor.

Andris Padegs,
It is a disgrace to honor this murderer

Jo hn F. Boseker,
Whoever is responsible for this idea should be investigated and fired, not necessarily in that order. Perhaps the bust should be placed on our Mall in D.C. or better yet at the site of the Memorial to the Victims to link their tragedies with a face.

xxxxxxxx,

xxxxxxxx,

T Michael Lutas,
Even ignoring his monumental evil, the USSR had no role in the events of D-Day. Why shoehorn an irrelevant malevolent figure. As historical revisionism, the decision is poor.

xxxxxxxx,
It’s a disgrace. You cannot find statues of this mass murdered in Rissia

xxxxxxxx,
We should not honor a butcher or a man responsible for the Iron Curtain.

xxxxxxxx,

John A. Douvillier,
Having this bust on display anywhere in the USA is a disgrace and a travesty, a slap in the face to all which we hold dear. Why would anyone want to hold the butcher of 30 Million persons in regard other than as the Monster he was.

xxxxxxxx,
This brutal murderer should not be placed there, or anywhere, honoring D-Day (in which Russian troops did not particpate). It’d be the same honoring US troops being honored at a memorial commemorating the defense of Leningrad.
However, William MacKenzie King of Canada should be there, as the Canadians did fine work that day, as in other days during WWII (and other wars).

For the butcher, Stalin? I hope he’s a bust…in hell.

A.O. Romano,
Stalin is a mass murderer! He is responsible for the murders of millions of innocent Belarusans in prisons, concentration camps, Siberian gulags, mass graves throughout Belarus.

I’m absolutely opposing this action and would like to invite people who initiated it to look at historic facts how many people he killed personally by signing all decisions

Cathy Trauernicht,
I am honored to sign this petition, and expect to see the Lenin bust removed promptly.

Putting Stalin on a D Day memorial is like putting DeGaulle’s name on the Stalingrad memorial. Does anyone in Virgiania have any idea about what happened in WWII?

xxxxxxxx,

People do not need to be brought face to face with this butcher.

Alex Pastori,

Why are we honoring a war criminal?

xxxxxxxx,

A few short years after D-Day, a new war would begin, and countless American lives would be lost in a place called Korea. Who supplied the weapons that mowed them down? It is your “hero,” Mr. Stalin.

Having descended both from Americans who fought to free Europe from Hitler, and refugees who fought to free themselves from Stalin, I find this an all-around insult. It is a mockery of all those who love freedom and have given the ultimate sacrifice. Such disgrace!

The Stalin bust can be replaced with a small statute
to honor the brave Russian men and women who fought to repell the German Armies. A ground plaque with the image of Stalin and his history can be placed near the foot of the marker. This will inform visitors of who Stalin was, but not allow him the honor of a bust.
Gen. George Patton is remembered on a plaque
near ground level close to the American busts. If Patton does not deserve a bust, certainly Stalin does not!

Stalin was a mass murderer and should never be memorialized. The Bedford D-Day Memorial is a dignified salute to valiant soldiers lost in a battle to another mass murderer, Hitler. Remove the statue immediately.

Aside from Stalin having nothing to do with D-Day, allowing his bust to desecrate the grounds of Arlington Cemetery is also a way to blur not only historical facts but the lines between good and evil and soften our resolve to identify evil.

Stalin was a mass murderer not only of his own countrymen and women but of other people who were of many different nationalities and faiths. It is inappropriate in a country which is a republic and democracy to honor this mass murderer with a statue. Especially if this honor is conncected with WWII D-Day Memorial. This Memorial honors soldiers who through their efforts and lives brought freedom to the people of Europe. People who were under the oppression of another mass murderer. LTC Christian J. Jensen,
I am a 29th Infantry Division (Light) veteran and am offended by the worst monster of the 20th century being immortalized through his bust being displayed on what I consider to be sacred ground. I visited the Memorial before the Stalin bust, but will never return until the mass murderer is removed. Haven’t the good people of Bedford suffered enough without having to be put through the shame of living in the same vicinity as that butcher’s bust? Shame on all those who are responsible for this decision or who did nothing to stop it!

Dr Inna Rogatchi,
This is a complete outgrage which reads more orwellian than Orwell. The ‘best’ sample of re-writing the history, and of sending a completely wrong message to the world on what’s USA is known as being standing for. And an utter mockery of a freedom. By all means this shame should be removed from the US soil instantly. And it will be quite useful to publish a detailed account on the background of this extra-ordinary ‘excercise’.

DR Michael Rogatchi,
As a son of a political prisoner in the Soviet Gulag, and a person who due to Stalin and his regime have spent a large part of life in the Gulag and Gulag areas in exile, I am completely outraged by this unbelieveable fact. And do wish anyone who has been involved in the decision and its fulfillment to spent the rest of their lives in the places which Stalin did develop the best – namely, in Gulag. There are some left on the earth yet today – in North Korea, China, or Cuba. All those activists for commemorating the Stalin’s memory on the US soil should be sent there for good, to enjoy the practices of Stalin inheritage fully.

Markus E. Apelis, Esq.,
Including the bust of one of the world’s most brutal tyrants, responsible for the near evisceration of entire nations, does nothing to honor those who gave the last full measure of devotion on the beaches of Normandy in June 1944. Dr William McIntosh,

There are people of accomplishment with grand titles some that even deserve the accolades. And then there are those in exalted positions that defy reason. They behave badly or have achieved high status without real merit. I do not know which is the case with you the National D-Day Memorial Foundation President. You are dead wrong in this decision to include Stalin.

Stalin and Hitler joined in a pact (Ribbentrop) and together started World War II. No matter what he may have done subsequently, that in an of itself would disqualify Stalin from any consideration of what you referred to as an ally who helped the allies defeat Nazi Germany. Dr McIntosh, you could have set the record straight after these decades have shown the despicable murderous true nature of the monster called Stalin and put Churchill next to Roosevelt and said nothing.

Look at the way things really were McIntosh, if it weren’t for the allies, the Germans probably would have destroyed more of Russia. Stalin and his communist gang would have ended up in the salt mines of Siberia. Look at some of Stalin’s speeches, he wanted the war to linger to weaken the west so that communism could spread easier, but he didn’t anticipate Hitler turning on him.

Mcintosh, take that abomination down and if the new president elect of the foundation Reed cannot comment on this matter, he should not be considered!

Over the top, like so many decisions that have been made since Barack Hussein Obama has become our President. Time for the people to rise up and say “enough is enough”.

Steve Hague,

John howes,

Martins Daiga,
Mass murders do not deserve a bust in a memorial for heroes.

xxxxxxxx,
Stalin should not be honored in any way.

BARBARA WHARTON,

Carl Vaughn,

Terry Swan,
do any of you really know our history?? maybe you need to do some research before deciding stalin should have a statue in our USA

xxxxxxxx,
Sad, shameful days for America…..

John Kiernan,
Typical of the ignorance of the left and it deceptions

xxxxxxxx,

Roma Hadzewycz,
The installation of Stalin’s bust at the National D-Day Memorial demeans Stalin’s victims and dishonors the true heroes of World War II. There is no reason that Stalin, a mass murderer responsible for the deaths of untold millions – including millions in the Famine-Genocide of 1932-1933 in Ukraine – should be honored in the United States.

DrTruong Tan Trung,
To never glorfy crimes of Stalin and communisum around the world including Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam)

Richard Snyder,

William Collier,
I agree with the comments of the other contributors. It seems that many un-american decisions such as this one have been occurring recently. Can we not trust anybody in authority to make decisions that support the principles upon which this country was founded? Perhaps the responsible parties should be stripped of their citizenship and deported. There needs to be consequences for un-american treasoness actions!

xxxxxxxx,

xxxxxxxx,
what idiot wants to include Stalin in this remembrance of D-Day?

Roger Anghis,
Placing Stalin at a memorial for our fallen soldiers is nothing more than slap in the face to those who fought in WWII.

Lloyd Scallan,

xxxxxxxx,

Jerry Freeman USN (ret),

Alan Jones,
I grew up in the area of VA near Bedford and cannot believe the people there want this statue

xxxxxxxx,

SILVIJA ZARINS,

Eric Rice,
Never should any dictator be honored on US soil

Terry Boone,

xxxxxxxx,
The Officers and Board of Directors of the National D-Day Memorial Foundation have joined the ranks of those who wish to destroy the values, beliefs and foundation of America. They have acted in a malicious, and defamatory manner directed at those who fought and died for freedom. Joseph Stalin has no place within the structure and basis of America. Officers and Directors need to resign and/or be removed as they have shown they have no perception of the duties and responsibilities attributed to the positions they hold. Make peace with yourselves, elsewhere.

gerald saltzman,
we need to stop this nonsense and support our
constitution

xxxxxxxx,
If someone would have told me about 18 months ago that I would be writing an email to REMOVE a terrorist dictator from a place of honor in this country I would have said “Hell NO!” And yet here we are.

I am wondering who are the members of the National D-Day Memorial and what possible explanation they could have for undercutting the sacrifices of our WWII veterans. Obviously they have never served in our military and need to be given a thorough education!!

Bruce Roosa,
This notion of giving Stalin any recognition is a disgrace!

Jean Marie Marsden,

Becky Lannon,

Paul Hadzewycz,

David Harvey,
Dictators are to be overthrown, not embellished in memorial.

Ziva Sahl,
My Father was a WWII Vet, a man proud to have fought for continued freedom of our great nation and that of our allies. The inclusion of Stalin, a mass-murdering dictator, dishonors all the those who fought wth the Allied forces.

Marcie Dreyer,

xxxxxxxx,
This is an absolute insult to those who gave their lives for our country during this war. What are you thinking and what is the justification for this decision to include this murderer?

xxxxxxxx,

Eric Pierson,
This statue is not only embarrassing to have on US soil, it is insulting!

xxxxxxxx,
He does not belong on any D-Day Memorial. What are they thinking???

Kathy Vennemann,
This is an outrage. Since when do we idolize mass murderers?

xxxxxxxx,

Maija Demants Salkeld,
Get rid of it!

xxxxxxxx,

John Schilling,

xxxxxxxx,
This is so absurd that it is difficult to belive.

Keith A. Kelso,

Eric Ellis,

Melvin Jones,
I think it is shameful and stupid to include Stalin. If he is to be included, by not in Chiang Kai Shek. He at least was not a murderous dictator. But he didn’t have any more to do with D-Day than did Stalen the murderer.

Victor Hadaway,
I am a Vietnam veteran against this abomination. My father Charles K. Hadaway fought in WWII for the freedoms that stalin denied so many.

Thomas Gilfether,

tom irwin,
Sralin did nothing to help the in the D-Day landings. Where as the landings helped Stalin.

Helen Sedlack,

MAX MILES,
I am a vet and this is disgusting a memorial for one of our biggest enemies of world was two

Frank Muretich,
My favorite uncle fought at Normandy on D-Day! This is a slap in the face for all WWII Veterans! HOW dare you dishonor their bravery and sacrifice!

Anders Hjemdahl,

xxxxxxxx,
This is an insult to the patriots that fought communism

xxxxxxxx,
Get rid of this pathetic statue ! He had millions of people killed!!!!!

Dayle Robbs,
Let us honor those worthy of honor. One responsible for the massacre of millions should not be honored.

xxxxxxxx,

Steve Dunn,
If Stalin, then why not Hitler, he had a H*LL of lot more to do with D-Day than Stalin. However, in truth neither deserve a place at the table of heroes. Only true patriots to the cause of freedom should be recognized and honored for their participation and sacrifice in this great event. In my opnion, this raises questions about the patriotism of those who made the decision to include Stalin.

sharon crow,

david berkland,
stalin was the opposite of what our soldiers died for

Ralph Quosig,

xxxxxxxx,
1. Russia was not part of the D-Day Invasion
2. And perhaps more importantly in this case, we do have hindsight to rely on. No matter his role, one of the greatest muderers of known human history should not be glorified in any way, shape or form. Reality trumps all else.

Wes Christensen,

Thelma Taormina,
The bust is an insult to every person who has given their life for our Country and our freedom.

Scott Brittin,
Can’t begin to imagine anyone believing this would be a good idea. What in the hell were these people thinking/smoking?????

Marcie Soto,
Are we now honoring those that have committed crimes against humanity? This is beyond immoral.

Neil Horowitz,
This commie bastard’s bust has no place on US soil! Especially commemerating an event he had no part in.

Denise Greer,

Will Blatz,

Kevin Burkett,

Patrick Corcoran,
Stalin has no connection with this memorial and should not be there.

Michael Rabjohns,

cazacu marius,

William Phillips,

Gay DeHoff,
This is an insult to every military person living or dead. It is another example of Political Correctness amuck instead of common sense!!

Troy Case,

Cassandra Troy,
History is not relative. Joseph Stalin has no place in this memorial for brave men and women who gave their lives for liberty. Stalin was a tyrant who enslaved half our continent for decades and was a mass murderer to boot. Facts matter. Time does not change them.

xxxxxxxx,
Insult. Remove Stalin.

Elizabeth McCarthy,

Pamela Lowe,
Is there no end to the ignorance that could even suggest a bust of Stalin in this place of honor. I am hurt for those who gave their lives, and it is in their memories that I object to this.

xxxxxxxx,
This is a travesty to those who fought & died for us & the Free World!

Shirl Lamonna,
My Dad landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day. Three months later, he lost his arm fighting for our freedom. His brother landed on Utah Beach (also on D-Day) & they spent many hrs throughout their lifetime discussing the horrors of the war. I am appalled that the US would include a bust of this Marxist/Communist mass murderer at the Natl
D-Day Memorial. This is disgusting!

xxxxxxxx,
WHY ?? honor Joseph Stalin……what audacity! It was our Western Allies who triumphed in the D-Day landings at Normandy.

Robert Henry,
This sucks. Stalin was a butcher and incompetent leader. He was responsible for the huge losses to the Russians. He wanted war with the USA. How dare the obamy the commie administration put up such a thing.

xxxxxxxx,

norbert rohaly,

Carlos Eire,
Absolutely shameful, to honor this monster in such a way.

xxxxxxxx,
The D-Day Memorial should be about the truth of the brave men and women who died defending liberty on that day. Mr Stalin did nothing to promote liberty. He should not be commenerated in any way

Ardell Barr,

Gabor Becht,
It is a travesty to leave this statue/bust of a mass murderer

This Communist mass murderer has no place on American soil. Who ever is responsible for putting this thing there should get the hell out of the USA. God bless America and all who defend her!

Staci Jackson,

xxxxxxxx,
How dare you put a bust of this low-life monster among our heros! You need to be fired, if you allow it to stay!

Matt Wolfe,
The tree of liberty must be refreshed every now and then with the blood of patriots and tyrants, it is the natural manure.

Gintare,

xxxxxxxx,

J. K. Ingram,
Absolutely LUDICROUS idea! Has D.C. gone completely out of it’s collective mind? (Appears to be so!)

This is beyond insulting and absurd – get rid of the Stalin statue NOW!

Timothy Williams,

We need to get to the bottom of who’s idea this was and fire them.

xxxxxxxx,

xxxxxxxx,
Inclusion of this hideous tyrant in this honorable memorial is an appalling and outrageous act, as well as being historically dishonest. What could be the purpose???

xxxxxxxx,
This is just one more step to indoctrinate the US to become one with the world.

Andrew Ludanyi,
His presence would desacrate the memorial!

Chad G. Abbott,

xxxxxxxx,

Ralph Russo,

xxxxxxxx,
THIS IS JUST ONE MORE INSULT TO WEAR DOWN THE PUBLIC IN PREPARATION FOR A SOCIALIST/FASCIST TAKEOVER

xxxxxxxx,
America shouldn’t honor political killers.

mara kaugurs,
Unthinkable – unbelievable!

Joel K. Levy,
Why do we have this tribute to this monster in our country? What about Hitler, Mussolini, and Mao? Might as well have statues of them, if we are going to have a statue of this homicidal maniac.

Shirley Manning,
This is a slap in the face to all who served during WWII to have a Mass Murderer’s bust included in our National D-Day Memorial. Remove this abomination!

A. \’Simon,
STALIN??????????????? Are you fucking kidding us?

Lisa Crawford,
Honor is for those that fight for freedom on D-Day. Stalin did not. Do not confuse history, do not disrespect sacrifice and do not misrepresent the facts of the past.

Stalin’s sculpted likeness has been relegated to heaps of rubble in his own country and here we put him on a pedestal. That someone would come up with this sickens me.

xxxxxxxx,
This is SICK!!! Is this for real???? How could our government approve such erection???

xxxxxxxx,

xxxxxxxx,
He does not belong there and needs to be removed. It is a disgrace to all the honorable veterans who fought D-Day.
